My First Online Shopping Experience (thank you mom)

Shopping has never been easier since the creation of online shopping. My interest in this topic began back in Grade 10 when my research project was focused on online shopping. That experience gave me a better understanding of how the process works, especially the role of money and the importance of handling it with caution. After all, money holds value, and with the risks in the online world, it's hard to trust anyone. As time went on, people adapted to this massive change. In fact, most of the things my family own (particularly my grandmother) comes from online stores. Despite my curiosity, I never tried it myself due to trust issues and I never asked permission to my mom (she's so strict). I’ve never seen myself as materialistic, which might explain why I never forced myself to try and purchase something online.

But one day, something changed. The wallpaper in my apartment ripped, and since it wasn’t durable, my mom suggested I buy a replacement. I got excited and that was the moment I decided to give online shopping a shot. I tried downloading the Shopee app, because it's one of the most popular and user-friendly platforms on the Play Store. After creating an account and logging in, I started browsing. To my surprise, the experience was fun! I loved the ability to "add to cart" and save products for later (as if I got that money to buy everything in it). I was so amused and overwhelmed by the options that my cart quickly filled up with items—oops.

When I started searching for wallpapers, I finally found a design I loved. It was a white minimalistic wallpaper design with a clean yet elegant look. I thought to myself that it's the perfect wallpaper for my apartment. Before making a decision to purchase the product, I asked my mom how to ensure the product was good. She advised me to simply check the ratings and reviews. So I did and followed her suggestion and chose a 50-piece wallpaper set with excellent reviews good enough for me to be convinced that the product is good. The price was also good and justifiable.

When it was time to place the order, my mom helped me fill in the necessary details like our address, phone number, and payment method. We went for cash on delivery (COD) because it felt safer than paying online. Shopee also offers other payment options like ShopeePay and online bank transfers, but paying on delivery gave me peace of mind as a first-time buyer.

The factors that influenced my decision to make this purchase were the following: Price was a significant consideration. I wanted something affordable but still worth the money. That product matched my preference and ability to purchase. Quality was also important for me, and I relied heavily on reviews and ratings to ensure the product is good for my use (trust me no one wants an ugly looking apartment wall). Lastly, the recommendations. My mom’s advice gave me confidence in my choice. Overall, my first online shopping experience was fulfilling. It gave me the knowledge on how to shop safely. While I still wouldn’t call myself materialistic, I now appreciate the convenience, and the help online shopping offers particularly when your apartment wallpaper gets ripped! A few days later, my first online purchase arrived, and it turned out great. The wallpaper was high-quality and exactly as advertised. Here’s the final product:

💌: The product exceeded my expectations I had to buy another set for my comfort room. Definitely a good-buy.💜
